Doug, Jan, Mitch and I are not yet tired enough from the morning’s hike in. So, with Mt. Goode (13,085’ ) such a tempting nearby target for an afternoon climb, we set out to do what we love most - getting on top of a mountain!
2
Part way up, we get some nice views back towards Bishop Lake, with Mt. Agassiz at the end of the Palisades range on the right.
3
Camp is just visible by the green tarp in the center.
4
We say goodbye to the last of the greenery as we climb well above timberline...
5
Mitch is exuberant with the climb..., or is it the lack of oxygen at this altitude?!
6
Jan surveys the scene just below the summit.
7
Mitch and Doug work their way up the jagged ridge...
8
...whoa! Don’t want to take too big a step in this direction!
9
The going gets a bit steeper...
10
...so Mitch keeps all fours on the rock.
11
Almost at the top, the steep backside of this mountain would sure make for an interesting climb!
12
Looking back towards camp, Bishop Pass, which we’ll be crossing tomorrow, is visible on the near side of Mt. Agassiz, just up and to the right of the lakes.
14
One happy team (Mitch, Doug, Jan) takes the time to enjoy the view.

This 270° panorama shows the full Inconsolables range extending behind the lakes to the left of center, and a near edge-on view of the Palisades range in the center.
