1
On day three, we prepare to hike up to Arrowhead Lake from Mosquito Flats. Taylor gets her trendy footwear on and dances around with delight.
2
Mindy observes with envy, suddenly feeling like her feet are very naked.
3
Bill-the-biped shows off his not-so-trendy footwear. He’s a triped when augmented by a fashionable trekking pole.
4
“Those goofy humans” is written all over Taylor’s furry face.
5
Trendy footwear and all, we make it to Long Lake and Bill sets about the business of fishing.
6
He catches a two-incher on the first cast, then consistently catches more as Taylor keeps count.
7
The catch begins when the fish hits the lure and Bill sets the hook with a swift tug. Notice the bent rod... proof that there’s a fish on the other end.
8
Bill wrestles with a real fighter. It must be at least 30 inches long (according to Bill).
9
Is the fish winning, or is Bill just making it look hard? “It’s only 8 inches,” thinks Taylor. “What’s all the fuss about?”
10
Bill wins the battle. “Whew!” thinks Taylor. “I almost had to help him with that one.”
11
Bill pulls it out of the water and we can see exactly what he’s caught. “Yup, just as I thought. It’s only 8 inches,” confirms Taylor.
12
“Look at this 30-incher!” declares Bill. “Hmmm...., sure.” Taylor knows who fills her dog bowl so she keeps mum.
13
Mindy stays out of the whole fish story and tackles a fiesty stick.
14
Then the weather starts to come in. The forecast said 10% chance of rain, but it didn’t say anything about snow! And that’s what we got. Mindy starts getting a little polka-dotted with the snow pellets.
16
A little weather doesn’t stop the fishing...
18
He ends up catching (and releasing) almost a dozen trout this day.
19
Back at camp, a dusting of snow has covered everything.
20
Then the snow starts coming down for real.

Can you spot the camouflaged poodle in this picture?
