The next day is a chance for another day hike. The energetic dogs (Mindy is only 2 years old) cover about 3 times the mileage running up and back on the trail.
2
The troops keep marching along...
3
…and we come upon another hiker with a black lab retrieving the orange bumper from the water, again and again and again...
5
Our little troop of dogs is fascinated by the retriever, and Jamie moves down onto the snow bank for a closer look.
6
Bob joins Jamie on the snow bank. The snow is no problem for them.
7
Mindy’s not sure about that sparkly white stuff and hangs back a bit.
8
The lab continues to fascinate our three onlookers.
9
As the lab climbs back onto the snow bank, Mindy musters up the courage to get closer and step onto the snow bank herself….
10
… then, faster than I can click another photo, she races back onto the rocks as the unexpected cold of the snow takes her by surprise. She’s never been on snow before. The lab looks on in amusement.
11
We continue on up to our destination for the day – a typical Sierra alpine lake.
12
We find a perfect spot for Bill to do a little fishing… that is, catching little (VERY little) fish!
13
Bill’s happy smile tells it all! The fish are biting, the sun is shining, the scenery is beautiful!
14
The two black poodles need a bit of shade to cool off in.
15
Did I mention we had some beautiful scenery?!
16
It’s Indian Paintbrush season on these slopes, and the orange blossoms puncutate the alpine scenery nicely.
17
Above the treeline, the views just go on forever!
18
Time to head back down to camp.
19
There’s still no shortage of amazing views in these mountains!
