1
We head back out onto the foothills below the North Slope, and start traversing a seemingly endless succession of rolling hills.
2
Lynn, Dexter, Karen and Gary concentrate intensely on the short snow crossing up a hill.
3
When not looking around for wildlife, many of us are looking down to appreciate the subtle colors and textures on the delicate arctic tundra.
4
How can you be smiling Gary, there’s still a zillion more hills to go!
5
At least we can stop at the top of each one to enjoy the ever–enthralling view.
6
Gary leads us up and over another hill...
7
...where the view is just as good as it was on the last one!
8
Finally we reach our camp on the Okerokovik River, close to where it flows out onto the plains. The warm sunny weather delights Cherie with the chance to do her laundry.
9
We gather ‘round for the daily after-dinner ritual of reading the log. Each day someone different adds their rendition of the day’s events to the group journal and then reads it to the group..., a task that everyone seemed to enjoy when their turn came.
10
The amiable, cohesive group always looked forward to the log reading as a chance to share our enjoyment of our experiences together.
