1
It rained all night, then started snowing in the morning! Happy Summer Solstice everyone!
2
Dexter, Heide, Carol, Drew and Cherie: “Who’s afraid of a few little flakes! It can’t amount to anything!”
3
Or can it...?! The snow keeps falling, and starts accumulating on the ground...
5
...and pretty soon, it’s a winter wonderland!
6
Snow or no snow, it’s time to get moving. The snow eventually melts off the ground, but keeps falling in soft flakes for a while.
7
We were warned we’d have lots more stream crossings today. Were we surprised? Naah!
8
Some orange mosses and lichen add color to an otherwise rather gray scene.
9
Dexter, Carol, Drew, Rosel and Perry at a critical junction. Drew’s navigation scheme: “Two drainages on the left, one on the right, one on the left, two on the right, and then we’re there!”
10
Whatever you say Drew, we’ll be right behind you!
11
As we climb higher, the clouds get lower..., hummm, I wonder why!
12
Creek crossing number twenty-one...! Karen does it in good style.
13
Drew’s warning “Watch out for the bog at the top!” That’s very useful, Drew, we can’t even see if we are at the top!
14
We’re in a bog, so we must be at the top! We indeed crest over a boggy pass at 4000 ft, then descend about 500 ft into our camp for the night.
15
It’s too foggy outside to take any photos, so I’ll just take one of Cherie inside the tent - glad to be cozy and warm in her sleeping bag!
