1
We leave Namche today, heading toward Khumde. This colorful intersection points us on the right path.
2
We reach sunshine as we climb out of Namche, but most of the village is still in shadow.
3
The fog seems to chase us up the valley...
4
...maybe spinning these Tibetan prayer wheels will keep it sunny a while longer!
5
This yak reassures us that we’re on the right track!
6
The mist starts to catch up to us as we cross a ridge on our way to Khumde.
7
The exposed high ridge is a good place to string Tibetan prayer flags, a very common sight in the higher terrain.
8
The town of Khumde has an elaborate entry gate, so of course we pose for the photo!
9
The white Stupas offer a focal point for the local Buddhists to pray and meditate. The larger ones often have a pair of eyes painted on one side.
10
Thamserku (right) and Kantega (left) seem to float in space as the thin ground fog blows up the valley.
11
The Buddhist Stupas and prayer posts are frequent sights in the higher villages.
12
The peaks of Thamserku and Kantega remain in the sun above the fog, and when a thin spot blows over us, we get glimpses of their summits.
13
The mist nicely frames the summit of Thamserku.
